CSOs to meet for the Annual Forum in Zanzibar

    2010
    MARCH
    17th

The 8th civil society organisations’ Annual Forum organised by the Foundation for Civil Society is planned to be held in the Zanzibar Island late May 2010.

The forum will bring together representatives of civil society organisations from all around the country, both from the Mainland and the Island to discuss different issues under the main theme “The role of Civil Society in enhancing Democracy”

During the forum, CSOs will hold different workshops around the main theme, including understanding promotion of rule of law in the society, ensuring proper practice of country’s constitution and stimulation of political participation in the society.

Other concepts to be addressed during the forum are creation of channels that are more effective than political parties within the society, providing public information in a democratic society and the involvement of the civil society in peace negotiations in post violent societies.

The Forum will also provide an opportunity for CSOs to demonstrate and share information about their activities during an exhibition intended to be positioned at open grounds, accessible to the general public.

The forum will be concluded by the CSOs excellence award for the year 2009/10 whereby civil society organisations which have demonstrated outstanding achievements in implementation of their activities during the year 2009 will be recognised and awarded for their excellence.

The 2010 CSOs excellence involving both grantees and non-grantees of the Foundation for Civil Society is award event will be the third

Organisations wishing to participate in the Forum and the CSOs Excellence Award are advised to visit the website of the Foundation for Civil Society (www.thefoundation.or.tz) for further details and regular updates on the events.
